Happy International Women’s Day! & what a way to celebrate & joy it was to meet & see one of my favorite female artists perform last night in Philly, - we had a great chat about music (she even insisted making a thank you video for my music students when I showed her a picture of our “Amber Mark Custom Bucket Drum” project) & her performance was simply amazing. What an honor it was to be right in front of one of my favorite voices with a sold out crowd behind me, equally enjoying her greatness. I feel blessed to be near such a hub for musical talent - thank you Amber!!! 🙏🏻🙌🏻💕

2026 NPR Tiny Desk Concert Contest Submission - I decided to enter for the first time in 6 years, challenging myself to write a brand new song specifically for the contest. I’ve always been a fan of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series - what a thrill that would be 🤞🏻 🎶

Not unlike the rest of the world, I have been mourning the loss of the man who in every conversation I’ve had, every interview I’ve ever given, I’ve cited as the biggest musical influence of my entire life. Without Brian Wilson, I never would have become a singer/songwriter or possibly a musician at all. His fragile, sensitive demeanor was something I could relate to & his beautiful melodies & harmonies have permeated through all my life experiences. When I woke up from my diabetic coma in 2010, the first thing I wanted to do was listen to Brian Wilson sing. It’s impossible to listen to a Beach Boys song & not smile.

Next week, I re-release the 20th anniversary of my debut album “Coast To Coast,” heavily influenced by Brian Wilson right down to the “Pet Sounds-like” font on its cover, fittingly on what would have been his 83rd birthday. I’m thankful for the decades worth of music, the many times I witnessed him perform, & everything I’ve learned just by listening to his music that has been absorbed in my subconscious. God bless this beautiful soul. His legacy will outlive us all.
