HAP would like to acknowledge the service and celebrate the retirement of our former Children, Youth & Families Project Director Laura Kolb. Laura served as our CYF Director for more than 20 years where she worked with a wide array of clients whose lives she changed. Below are some quotes from our staff and clients who worked with Laura over the years.

Last week, our Legal and Advocacy Director attended the 2026 National Conference on Ending Homelessness in Washington, D.C. The conference featured discussions and presentations on best practices and advocacy strategies to prevent and end homelessness. Nancy reports that it was “a great opportunity to connect with other advocates, learn about how other communities are addressing common issues, and strengthen Homeless Advocacy Project's ability to advance systemic change. It was an inspiring and productive conference, and I’m grateful I had the chance to attend.”

A few weeks ago our Senior Staff Attorney Pat Malley and one of our legal interns Kyra Lauersdorf visited JEVS. Here were Kyra's thoughts on the experience:

"Pat and I had a wonderful time speaking with community members at the JEVS Work Ready Community Resource Fair! We spoke with attendees about our organization and distributed resources concerning the most common legal issues that unhoused and housing insecure individuals face. We also spoke at length with several attendees who raised specific legal issues, and it was incredibly rewarding to be able to hear their stories and provide support. We are very grateful to our hosts at JEVS Work Ready for putting this opportunity together!"
