I captured this beauty on a recent trip to New Mexico - the vista literally took my breath away!
The opportunity to travel and see new landscapes and be in nature is truly a gift I am deeply grateful for.

The red earth in the Southwest moves me -
the sense of proportion to stand at such an overlook changes me…

Changing the scenery literally gives us new perspective 🤔

Alexander’s discoveries give us a tool-kit to “leave home” so to speak -
leaving harmful habits (at least temporarily) in order to widen our vista -
to choose a new view -
and discover a new path forwards.

If you’re ready to widen your vista, join AT Phila online or in-person -

When we embrace confusion instead of avoiding it, wondrous learning can happen.
Your curiosity is the best leader and best teacher you have.

Liberate it.
Follow it.
Trust it.

No need to be in a hurry to reach an answer - to “get it” - or be “right”.

Embrace your confusion with curiosity and see what happens 😉

Here’s the next installment in my series of video tips for musicians on how to play without pain 🎶

So far we’ve explored expanding our attention to include ourselves and the space around us
and we began to look at how we are in relationship to our instrument when we pick up or go towards our instrument.

Today I’m actually going back a step -
because I realized💡 that before I address how you bring up your instrument, it would be wise to address your overall balance by orienting your head over your base first. 🤦🏻♀️

Being in balance is everything! 😂
Begin experimenting by rocking on the rounded rockers of your sit-bones.
Notice how their is more weight in your feet as you rock forward on your sit-bones
and how you will tense up if you rock to the back of your sit-bones.
Now find your “Goldilocks” range when your head is balancing over the middle of your sit-bones and your back and neck muscles are freer.

Voila!

How did the experiment feel to you? Dos it change anything when you go to play?
If it felt unfamiliar you have succeeded in exploring un-habituated territory - bravo!! 👏👏👏👏

Share your findings below 👇🏽and let me know what pain you are having in your music-making so I can be of help 🙏

Here’s a gem 💎 from the AT Phila archives that seems a perfect compliment for my new series for musicians wanting to play without pain ❤️

THIS might be THE most crucial thing to learn.-

If you’re anything like me… this may NOT be your first instinct 🤨
Perhaps you’ve committed yourself to “giving it your all” or bought into the the myth that “quitters are losers” -
societal pressures are real….

Yet the TRUTH is that stopping BEFORE you hurt yourself
BEFORE you’ve reached burnout
gives you a better chance to recover - faster, better and more fully.
PERIOD.

What lessons have you been taught that prevent you from stopping in the “yellow” zone before you hit the danger zone?
Share below 👇🏽and let us know what has ihelped you change those unhealthy habits...
