Brew up a strong cup of coffee and meet us online for an action-oriented conversation around racial injustice and inequity within architectural education and the profession to increase your understanding of the architectural education “pipeline” with our guest, Rashida Ng, Associate Professor and Chair of Architecture and Environmental Design at Temple University.

JUNE 19 - 9AM - ZOOM

Ng is the President of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, which recently released a call to action to address racial injustice within architectural education. She will help identify where the gaps are between the positive, progressive work being done in education and the action that is needed from the profession for these efforts to succeed.

Stop apologizing for what you think you are lacking! Networking Coach Julie Brown taught us that nobody likes getting things without giving back. Sometimes the “what” you have to offer is the ability to let someone else pay it forward!
Thank you Julie!

EFFECTIVE NETWORKING During Times of Chaos and Social Distancing (link coming 4/27!)

In this session, we will learn how to create our “power network” and become thought leaders from business development expert and networking coach Julie Brown. She will explain how to create next-level professional connections, even from your virtual office.

In-person meetings, conferences, and networking events might be on hold, but relationships certainly are not. Studies show that one of the single most significant limiting factors for women in business is the lack of an active professional network. Women network differently than men, and these differences can lead them to have less extensive networks to support and promote them as leaders. Knowing how to network is not a nice-to-have skill, it's a must for accelerated and long term career and business growth, especially during times of uncertainty and chaos. And we're not just talking about climbing some ladder--we're talking about accessing the opportunities, collaborations, and clients you want while working on the issues you care about.

Come network with us! Although the talk will focus on networking for women, WIA welcomes and encourages the participation of all gender identities at this event.

International Women's Day means different things to different people, but the global focus on equality and celebration is clear. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. International Women's Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action.

Join WIA, WISE and NAWIC on March 6th at 8:00 am at the Center for Architecture and Design for breakfast. We will be joined by Councilwoman Maria D. Quiñones Sánchez.

We look forward to hearing about Maria’s position on affordable housing in Philadelphia and the role the AEC community can play in addressing this inequity. Affordable housing is a vital step in achieving a more equitable society.
