Bennett Compost
โOnly when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.โ - Alanis Obomsawin
We can all play a role in living mindfully and protecting our planet - and is one of the most impactful changes you can make.
Food in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas thatโs driving global temperature increases. When you compost your instead of trashing it, itโs better for the planet - AND you get compost!
If a paid, weekly pickup service like ours isnโt a good match for you, hereโs how you can compost for FREE, on demand, in the city:
๐ Join our free Holmesburg dropoff program. There are no set hours - the bins are at 8201 Torresdale Ave and you can unlock them with the cityโs MetroKey app.
๐ Find the Farm Philly community compost drop off point near you! There are almost two dozen spots across the city already.
๐ Visit the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center at 3850 Ford Road. Not only can you drop off your food waste for composting - you can also pick up compost and woodchips for free! Donโt forget to bring your own container. You can take up to 30 gallons per visit, 2 times per week.
๐ MOM's Organic Market on South 11th accepts compostable food scraps for free, daily from 9-9.
๐ Our friends at the West Philly Tool Library also have a bin thatโs free to the community, that we process into rich soil for our cityโs gardens and green spaces.
