We are marking the month by sharing the story of an older homeowner, Renauda, who came to SeniorLAW Center with an unfathomable challenge: her mortgage was in foreclosure and she was unable to resolve the delinquency due solely to the negligence of a former mortgage company that she paid off more than 10 years beforehand. Due to an error on no part of Renauda's, she was facing the possibility of losing her home that she shared with her late husband of 30 years.

Thanks to caring people like you, SeniorLAW Center's Housing Justice team was able to intervene and help Renauda clear her title and modify her loan, ending the foreclosure action and maintaining her homeownership. Join The First Judicial District Elder Justice Committee on June 23rd for a discussion on ways to identify and prevent financial exploitation and caregiver abuse.

In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, this workshop features professionals dedicated to combatting financial exploitation and caregiver abuse/neglect of older adults. Resources will be provided by each presenter and other agency partners, including the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Senior Protection Unit; Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Elder Justice Unit; Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, and SeniorLAW Center.
