In 1983, Jim found out that he had polycystic kidney disease, an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts grow in the kidneys, causing the kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Jim’s friend Brendan and the power of social media, Jim has been given two second chances at life.

Meet Dr. Radi Zaki, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Einstein.

Dr. Zaki has been an Einstein staff member since 1999 and has participated in over 1,500 kidney transplants. Dr. Zaki is a Fellow at the American College of Surgeons and a Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctor. A few of his favorite things are the Philadelphia 76ers, the movie the Godfather, and cats. When you see him around the hospital ask him about his cat Quincy. Einstein Health
