Drexel University Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice

HIV Cure Research Day, observed annually on December 14, raises awareness about the efforts to find a cure for HIV. The day celebrates advances in research, supports scientists, advocates and people living with HIV, and stresses the importance of ongoing research, funding and equal access to care.

December 8 marks National Pansexual Pride Day, recognizing progress in acceptance and understanding for the pansexual and panromantic community.

National Handwashing Awareness Week takes place from December 1 to 7. Practicing good hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of illnesses. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing your hands often, with extra attention before and after certain activities:

• Before, during and after preparing food
• Before and after eating food
• Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or
diarrhea
• Before and after treating a cut or wound
• After using the toilet
• After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
• After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
• After touching an animal, animal feed or animal waste
• After handling pet food or pet treats
• After touching garbage
