On September 9, 2025, a U.S. House hearing revealed a video from October 2024 showing an MQ-9 Reaper drone firing a missile at a fast-moving, unidentified aerial object (UAP) off the coast of Yemen, which continued on its trajectory after impact. Congressman Eric Burlison presented the footage, obtained from a whistleblower, at a hearing on UAPs and government transparency, sparking discussion about the military's encounter with the object. The incident occurred in an area where U.S. forces were already engaged in protecting commercial shipping lanes from Houthi attacks.

Whistleblower Matthew Brown, a Pentagon intelligence officer reveals the Department of Defense created a Special Access Program (SAP) “Immaculate Constellation” (a UAP reconnaissance program) in 2017 but the President, the Congress and the public were not told. According to Brown, the Pentagon officials went on to lie in public hearings and meetings by stating that there is no program, no evidence of any non-human beings and no UFO/UAP crafts in their possession.
