New production reference blocks and tape width gauges for Studer machines are now in stock. Modeled after original Studer parts. The reference block is 41.05mm tall, equivalent to the distance from the milled surfaces of a Studer transport casting to the bottom edge of the tape. Tape width gauges are machined to match the actual cut width of magnetic tape - 6.25, 12.65, 25.35 and 50.75 mm.

My response to the news of MRL closing at the end of 2023 is to push and share documents relating to the production of reference tapes. Hopefully those interested in using test tapes or even continuing the MRL tradition will follow the advices of tape recording's previous generation.
