🐱 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! 🐱

One of the most valuable resources of The Cat Collaborative is our facility in the Arsenal Business Complex 😻😻. This space gives cats a safe place to land as they transition from life on the streets to the next chapter of their lives. While they are with us, we provide medical care, proper nutrition, a clean and comfortable environment, and time to decompress. We assess their personalities, help them recover, and ensure they are ready for rescue placement or adoption. This facility has been a complete game changer and has allowed us to help so many more cats.

However, none of this happens without people showing up to help. Every single cat staying at the Arsenal must be cared for every single day — their kennels need to be cleaned and sanitized, litter boxes scooped, food and water refreshed, laundry done, dishes washed, supplies restocked, and the entire facility kept clean, organized, and running smoothly. Maintaining a high standard of care isn’t optional—it’s essential to the health of the cats and to preserving this incredible resource for the future.

Right now, we desperately need more dependable volunteers who are willing to help with Feed & Clean shifts. The commitment is only about 2–3 hours, but the impact is enormous. By volunteering consistently (we generally ask for you to commit to one shift a week), you will become an essential part of the team that makes everything else we do possible.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to help cats, this is it. Without people caring for the cats already in our care, we simply can’t continue helping the next ones who need us.

This is why we fight so hard 😢😢

This week, a family was scheduled to bring 4–5 adult cats to one of our Owned Pet Spay/Neuter Clinic days. We were so excited because every cat fixed means fewer kittens born into an already overwhelming rescue crisis.

Unfortunately, while our scheduler was confirming appointments, she learned that two of their female cats gave birth over the weekend to THIRTEEN kittens.

In the span of just a few days, a manageable situation turned into 13 newborn kittens who now need rescue placement. It’s heartbreaking and discouraging and makes us feel
Like every time we take a step forward we take two steps back (or 13 steps back 😢😢).

We will do everything we can to ensure these kittens have the best possible outcome but the reality is that they now represent thousands of dollars in veterinary care alone. That doesn’t include food, litter, foster care, medications, or the months they’ll spend in rescue before they are ready for adoption. It means tying up resources that could have been used to help other cats.

Meanwhile, there are so many more families waiting for appointments through our Owned Pet Spay/Neuter Program because we simply don’t have enough funding to help everyone as quickly as we need to.
This is why spay/neuter matters.
This is why we desperately need more funding, more clinic days, more volunteers, more fosters, and more community support. Every cat we can sterilize before kittens are born prevents situations exactly like this—and allows us to spend our limited rescue resources helping cats who are already here instead of constantly trying to catch up.

We are extremely thankful to have many Rescue Partners who work so hard to help us with cats and kittens like these. In this case, we send our deepest gratitude to Foxy's Cradle who has agreed to take all 13 of the kittens and the moms!!
