For tonight's meeting, we will be watching a documentary called The Queen. The documentary follows the pre-stonewall riots 1967 "Miss All-America Camp Beauty Contest" and is narrated by famous drag queen Flawless Sabrina. The Queen provides an interesting look into the lives and performances of LGBTQ+ people living in this time period. After watching the film, there will be discussion on some of the major themes and issues portrayed within it.

Today's meeting will be a "Hurricane Check In + Social, " we will be checking in on everyone after Hurricane Sally.

We want to discuss everyone's experience and make sure that you are faring well, offering assistance where we can provide - for example, offering material resources to those who need it. Talking through what we experienced may also be therapeutic for some, which is a plus!

If a discussion surrounding Hurricane Sally may be triggering, we understand if you choose not to attend.

Moving on from the Hurricane Check In, we will use tonight's meeting as a way to socialize between members. We may play online multiplayer games later into the meeting.

Hopefully you are all safe and sound, and we hope to see you tonight at 6 PM!

In addition, we wanted to take this time to share with you information regarding a protest happening this Saturday, September 26th, surrounding racial justice:

(1) The Florida bill that will criminalize protests - "Combating Violence, Disorder and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act" - claiming it will only affect riots, however, this is untrue, and will for certain disproportionately affect Black and Brown people. Within this bill are troubling propositions in addition to criminalizing protests, such as Florida local governments essentially being disallowed to defund the police.

2) Justice for Breonna Taylor - A single police officer was charged, not for the murder of Breonna Taylor, but the endangerment her white neighbor was put under instead. That's right - a police officer shot and killed Breonna, but was charged only for the bullets that missed.

You can join this protest Saturday, September 26th, 6PM at Florida Square.
