The NJ Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking volunteers to serve on the Disability Mortality and Abuse Prevention Advisory Committee, established under P.L. 2025, c. 282. The purpose of the Committee is to critically review select cases of abuse and neglect, evaluate government systems’ responses to such cases, identify areas for improvement in preventing abuse, and suggest methods to improve the investigation process.

Among others, the task force is seeking a self-advocate with I/DD and a family member of an individual with I/DD who receive services from either the Department of Children and Families or the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
