It’s easy to get caught up in logistics and forget to pause and remember how the Hope & Healing Retreat even began. After losing Angel, I quickly realized there wasn’t much out there for moms like me — moms who were grieving, overwhelmed, and trying to survive a world that felt completely different overnight. I was broken, lost, and more alone than I had ever been, despite having some amazing friends who lived the nightmare with me.

But I knew the only people who could truly understand were other moms who had experienced the same kind of loss. This retreat was born from my desperate need for a space to breathe, grieve, and simply keep living without Angel. Creating it has helped me survive some of the hardest days of my life. It has given me a community of moms who understand grief in a way no one else can. It has brought incredible volunteers who show up with time, talent, and love to make this retreat possible. And it has given me hope and healing to keep going, one step at a time. If I’m honest … the retreat started as a completely selfish act. 😊

Each year, raising funds gets harder, but I won’t give up. We have amazing supporters, and somehow the money always comes through (even if it arrives days before the moms do!). Just yesterday, thanks to a few kind hearts, we raised $300. That means we are now just $700 away from fully funding the retreat and ensuring every grieving mom can attend without any financial burden.

Angel dreamed of changing the world with love, peace, and understanding. She poured her heart into everyone she met — especially her fellow cancer warriors.

She wrote this poem for them … for the fighters she knew and those who would come after her. I can feel her in every word — her love, her courage, her hope. 🌈

That same hope now lives on through the Hope & Healing Retreat, where grieving moms find the comfort, connection, and peace Angel always wanted others to have. 💛
