Women Power in Winemaking – Across Georgia and the world, women are making a profound impact on the wine industry, redefining traditions and bringing fresh perspectives to an ancient craft. From vineyard management to natural winemaking, female winemakers are not only preserving heritage but also innovating with sustainable and community-driven approaches.

MIRANDA CHKHETIANI’s story is a perfect example of how passion, tradition, and innovation can transform a region. Tvishi, with its unique terroir, has long been known for its exceptional Tsolikouri-based wines, and her efforts in revitalizing vineyards and establishing a Tsolikouri nursery highlight a deep commitment to both heritage and sustainability.

Her work goes beyond just making wine—she’s fostering a sense of community, global recognition, and agricultural sustainability. By integrating traditional Kvevri methods with modern sustainable practices, she’s helping to showcase Tsolikouri’s full potential, not just in Georgia but even in parts of the U.S.

Tvishi PDO is already renowned for its semi-sweet Tsolikouri wines, but with Miranda’s dedication, the village is emerging as a destination for innovation and high-quality dry expressions, and skin contact as well. The influence of Khvamli Mountain, Rioni River valley, and Tvishi’s unique climate creates wines with bright acidity, floral aromas, and a crisp, refreshing finish—a combination that is increasingly attracting international attention.
