National Hurricane Center issues Tropical Storm Watch for portions of SE Texas including Galveston county. Impacts will be greatest along the coast and include winds 35-40mph, higher than normal tides, and heavy rainfall/flooding. We've seen these before and the system is moving, which is good. We'll have more details later today. I don't see a need to go buy all the toilet paper! :D Be safe and have a way to receive warnings if any are issued.
Heavy rain moving across Galveston this morning could make for a slow and potentially hazardous commute, especially along Harborside Drive where standing water and localized flooding can develop quickly.
If you’re heading to work, allow extra time, reduce your speed, and never drive through water covering the roadway. Conditions can change rapidly during heavy downpours.
