"A massively rich and muscular procession of smoky blackberry, ripe dark cherry, gooey blueberry, and black currant broods with dense and concentrated might as underlying impressions of asphalt, sun-baked soil, and campfire impart an intriguing and attractive sense of ruggedness. Pleasant herbal notes of rosemary, to***co, menthol, and sage proudly assert their presence while wafts of crushed violet and bougainvillea contribute interesting floral lift. Hints of black pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla gently reveal well integrated spice tones as a mild suggestion of new leather provides a lightly luxurious sheen. Strikingly concentrated, powerful, and robust on the palate while remaining well balanced despite its sheer intensity; exhibiting a bold, spicy, and delightfully age-worthy presentation that is as seductive as it is serious. Fully bodied with medium tannin backed by moderate acidity. This 2020 "Raíces" by Metas Altas is an assertive and amplified red from Paso Robles. 

Located in the heart of California's Central Coast, Paso Robles is a warm and sun-drenched region that has become world renowned for the complex and powerful wine it shapes. This bottling, crafted by Metas Altas using a blend of 49% Malbec/25% Syrah/17% Tempranillo/9% Grenache grown in Paso Robles, is an excellent example of the combination of depth and concentration that this region has become legendary for. This generously gushes with a range of dense dark fruits complicated by rugged earthy tones, complex herbs, intriguing floral notes, and delicious spiciness. Although absolutely delicious today after a short decant this possesses the "umph" to age quite nicely, and will likely require another 5-7 years to reach its drinking peak. Excellent.
