⚠️ CAUTION: Extreme heat headed our way in Maryland ⚠️
Temperature indices higher than 90deg F can put children at risk of heat related illness such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke very quickly. Going swimming for brief periods or staying inside may be the best way to keep your family safe.

Look ahead at the weather and ensure you have some activities planned to keep kids’ bodies and brains active (&safe) such as indoor hide and seek, dance parties, yoga, experiments, arts and crafts, or even making popsicles!

Recognizing the signs of heat illness and calling your Pediatrician are essential to help keep your children safe in the extreme heat!
Concerning symptoms:
-feeling faint
-extreme tiredness
-headache
-fever
-intense thirst
-not urinating for many hours
-nausea/vomiting
-breathing faster or deeper than normal
-skin numbness or tingling
-muscle cramps, aches, or spasms
