We’re still basking in the joyful afterglow from watching Cats: The Jellicle Ball MAKE HISTORY at the Tony Awards! Nine nominations, three Tony wins, and Qween Jean becoming the first openly trans person to win a Tony—these were monumental accolades awarded to a production channeling the legacy of Black, Brown, Trans, and Q***r Ballroom Culture. This is a production that welcomes everyone’s story into a space, encourages folks to be their most authentic self, and celebrates that with the utmost joy!

As first-time co-producers, we’re honored to be part of this unforgettable journey thus far, and excited for what’s to come!

Our Operations Manager, Kendra Ann Flournoy, and Deputy Director, Michael Robertson, are at Theatre Communications Group/ (TCG)’s National Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, this week!

As we continue to navigate the challenges of political pushback, Kendra Ann will be connecting with colleagues and artists to exchange ideas, resources, and strategies for tending to organizational sustainability and culture. Michael will be facilitating conversations focused on white antiracist learning, action, and solidarity, and also participating in discussions aimed at strengthening relationships between grantmakers and grantees that will shape a more collaborative future for the field.

We’re so excited to cultivate connections through communal dialogue, celebrate the powerful work across the arts sector, reflect on how we gather intentionally, and bring back insights that inspire action for the liberated future that we’re building.

If you’re also attending and would like to connect or just say hi, come find us!

Why do people leave so full of joy?

“They’re clapping fans together,” Tony Award-winning director says. “They’re crying together.”
