Journal with me 😍| Feast of the Sto. Niño (Holy Childhood Day)
Matthew 18:1–5, 10

Word that Stayed with Me
“Unless you turn and become like children…”

Reflection
Today, Jesus places a child at the center, not as decoration, but as the measure of greatness. In a world that equates greatness with power, rank, and achievement, He proposes a quieter revolution: humility, trust, and dependence on the Father. To become like a child is not to be naive, but to be open. Not to be weak, but to be surrendered. The Sto. Niño reminds me that God chose smallness to reveal greatness, and vulnerability to manifest love.

Children trust without calculating, love without conditions, and depend without shame. Jesus invites me to unlearn my pride, my need to control, and my fear of appearing small. The Kingdom opens not to those who climb, but to those who kneel.

Examen (Quiet Questions)
Where in my life am I resisting childlike trust?
Do I seek recognition, or do I seek God’s will?
How do I treat the “little ones” entrusted to me: the poor, the overlooked, the vulnerable?

Resolution
Today, I will choose humility over pride and trust over control. I will make space for God to act.

Prayer
Sto. Niño, teach me the courage to be small before God. Strip me of my pretenses and clothe me with trust, simplicity, and love. May my life proclaim that true greatness is found in surrender. Amen.

Today, January 15, we celebrate the feast of Saint Paul of Thebes.⁣ Pray for us. ⁣
⁣⁣
Saint Paul of Thebes or St. Paul the Hermit is remembered for living a life of solitude and penance gave inspiration to the monastic movement during its early years.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Surviving in the Egyptian desert on a small amount of daily food, St. Paul the Hermit lived in close communion with God. Before the end of his life at age 113, he met with St. Anthony the Great, who led an early community of monks elsewhere in the Egyptian desert.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Venerated on the same day by Roman Catholics, Eastern Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians, St. Paul of Thebes is also the namesake of a Catholic monastic order – the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit – founded in Hungary during the 13th century and still in operation.⁣⁣
