Disaster Recovery of an SXe Database Server







A big worry of any company that relies on a single database server to keep their business up and running is what happens in a worst case scenario when that one single point of failure, the database server, goes down. Typically, unless you have a backup system loaded, running and ready to go, a failure of this magnitude can take days to weeks to resolve (depending on what failed, how fast you can get replacement hardware and how good your backups are).



Some of the factors that contribute to how long it will take to get back up and running are just out of your control. You can’t pre-determine what components will fail, and in many cases, you can’t control how long it will take your hardware vendor to fix the problem, or provide you with replacement parts or a new machine. But there are somethings you can do to mitigate the issue and change that down time from perhaps days to instead a couple of hours or less.
