⚠️ Severe Weather Preparedness Notice – Bourbon County
The Bourbon County Fire/Rescue Department is urging residents to prepare for the potential of severe weather moving into our area later this evening.
Weather systems may bring strong thunderstorms capable of damaging winds, heavy rain, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and take steps now to ensure your household is prepared.
Preparedness Tips:
• Monitor local weather updates and warnings throughout the evening.
• Have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts (weather radio, phone alerts, local media).
• Identify a safe shelter area in your home — preferably a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor away from windows.
• Secure outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds.
• Charge cell phones and keep flashlights available in case of power outages.
• Check on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance.

FYI: Kentucky's Annual Statewide Tornado Drill was cancelled for this morning due to severe weather conditions coming through the state this afternoon. Protocol in Bourbon County reads if there is weather moving in within 24 hours no tests should occur.
