Bergen County Zoo

One of our sloths, Rowsey, has been spotted on the outside portion of her exhibit now that the days are getting warmer! Come see both of our sloths “hang out” any day of the week, 10:00am to 4:30pm!

Our aviary is officially open for the season! Our aviary features four different wetland species of bird. Come to the zoo and see if you can spot them all!

Our spectacled owls, Dexter and Velma, are back on exhibit! These large, tropical owls are native to Central and South America. They are named for the large white markings around their eyes, which give the appearance of wearing glasses. Like other owls, spectacled owls have asymmetrical ear openings that allow them to detect sounds better and locate prey more efficiently!

Our pollinator garden just got bigger! We are thrilled to announce an expansion of our native plant garden in Van Saun Park, right next to the carousel. Thanks to a generous grant from the Bergen County Audubon Society and the hard work of our Zoo Conservation Crew (ZCC) teens, we've created even more habitat for native pollinators We are so grateful for their hard work! Come check out the garden and see the native plants for yourself!
