Urban trees and nature have a profound impact on people's health, wellbeing, and quality of life. CANOPY envisions a day when every resident of the Mid-Peninsula can walk, play, and thrive under the shade of healthy trees. To bring this vision to life, we plant and care for trees where people need them the most, and bring the life-giving benefits of trees to the schools, neighborhoods, and public

We were in many places today in honor of arbors and earth days. But more importantly, we were in community.

There’s no shortage of events that bring people together for a moment: a table, a listening session, a well-framed photo.

But impact asks more of us.

When we talk about Planting Action, we mean rolling up our sleeves and doing the kind of work that doesn’t just look good, it does good. The kind of work that quietly, steadily, changes the trajectory of a neighborhood.

Today, more than 100 people showed up - from East Palo Alto to Mountain View - and planted over 20 trees. At Vargas Elementary in Mountain View, we hosted a fair for the school community to get closer to nature.

What happened today weren’t symbolic gestures, and they won’t end when the photos are posted. These trees will cool streets, clean air, and grow alongside the communities that planted them. And just as importantly, something less visible took root: connection, stewardship, and a shared sense of responsibility.

That’s what real impact looks like.

Not just showing up, but staying with the work long enough to matter.

Believe in hope. Today, we proved it’s still in abundance.
