Back in the early 2000’s, I struggled with the cracking and feel of DTG prints using the digital white ink. I didn’t like the hand feel it has and the white ink printheads would always go bad. I loved how DTG felt just like screen printed water based discharge inks and wondered if I could only replace the white dtg underbase with waterbased discharge ink I would have an amazing product. I have a strong industrial design background and began to build my own internal system to marry the water based screen printing process to the DtG process and in 2012 I started doing Hybrid-DTG. No one knew what the hell I was talking about. Today in 2026, the last 3-4 years, manufactures have slowly been building larger systems that offer this process. Why go through all this, because these combined methods create literally the softest prints on the market. 🤘
