NEVER EVER GIVE UP!!!

Despite being plagued by issues for the entire race, and despite not having rear brakes for 5 of the 6 days, we felt strong, determined, and focused before the start of the last stage, Stage 6 of Norra’s Baja.

Special 1 was great. We were actually competitive, and the car performed as she should.

Then, in Special 2, 90 km before the finish, disaster struck… again. This time in the form of losing our entire left front wheel and hub on the side of a very, very narrow mountain pass, literally 100 m before the end of the last and gnarliest hill climb of the rally. We could taste the finish line, and our race was essentially over (again).

However, is the most determined, focused, and committed driver I have had the honor and privilege of working with. He simply refuses to give up… ever.

So we made a plan (again), and we brought the 008 to the final finish of despite the odds and despite all the adversity we faced!

A lifetime of memories was made during this incredible week of racing, made possible by a team that worked day and night with very little sleep.

Rally is just different. Never give up. Never. Find a way!
It was amazing to learn more about and experience the racing culture in Baja, and to see how different desert racing is compared to W2RC-style racing.

From legacy to launch.

At the NORRA’S BAJA, Darren Skilton returns to Baja not just as a competitor, but as a builder, innovator, and visionary.

After decades at the top of the sport, Baja wins, Dakar stages, and building rally-raid in North America, he’s bringing something entirely new to the desert: the Glickenhaus 008.

Alongside him is Willem Avenant, Dakar finisher, navigation coach, coming off a T4 championship win in the Middle East with Big Red Racing. A relationship that started years ago at Sonora Rally has evolved into a collaboration built on shared experience across racing, coaching, and development.

This driver and navigator pairing is unique because it’s two perspectives of the sport coming together to test something new.

The mission → Get to Cabo. Learn everything. Push the limits. Take 008 to the W2RC, Dakar and beyond!

Improvement in riding isn’t just physical, it’s also psychological.
Confidence, fear, repetition, identity…
these are the real drivers behind performance on the bike.

Many riders never train this side of it.

⏪ Swipe through to understand why it matters.

This mental framework is a key part Decoding Dakar, and of how I structure my training programs, so that you have the mental tools to get you over the finish line, as well as the navigation and riding skills.
