Received a solar proposal? You might have heard about the 120% rule and avoiding panel upgrades. While it's true PCS systems can help skip this, it's not always the best long-term choice. Understand the behind-the-scenes tech and why skipping an upgrade could cost you later.

A $2,400 electric bill down to just $20. This project is a great example of what can happen when solar, battery storage, and proper system design all come together.
Slazik Electric installed a 43kW ground mount with 90kWh of FranklinWH battery storage, and after 6 months of real-world usage, the results are pretty impressive.

Can you really generate solar power by plugging a solar system directly into a wall outlet?
It sounds crazy, but that's exactly what APsystems is now offering with their new EZ1 Plug-In Microinverter. This small DIY solar system can connect up to two solar panels and produce up to 900 watts of power without the cost and complexity of a traditional rooftop solar installation.
In my latest video, I break down how the APsystems EZ1 works, the new APmeter zero-export monitor, estimated savings, and whether plug-in solar could become a legitimate alternative for people looking to reduce their electric bill.

SPAN recently announced XFRA, a platform that aims to deploy AI computing infrastructure in residential and small commercial properties. If successful, this could create an entirely new market where homeowners, utilities, electricians, and technology companies all benefit from distributed AI infrastructure.
The bigger question is what happens if it works. How long before Tesla, Apple, Google, Meta, or Amazon launch competing solutions? I break down the opportunity, the challenges, and why this may be one of the most important energy and technology announcements of the year in my latest video.

Electrical work isn’t slowing most electricians down right now… it’s everything around it.
Permits, plan sets, meter spot requests, utility back-and-forth, and even the occasional NEM application are becoming part of the job whether you want them to be or not. It’s not difficult work, but it takes time, and that time pulls you away from installs, estimates, and running your business.
We’ve been helping electricians handle this side of the work in the background so projects keep moving without getting stuck in the process. It’s turned into something a lot bigger than just permit help, and honestly, it’s been one of the easiest ways for electricians to take on more work without adding overhead.
We also built a tool to compare the cost of hiring someone internally versus outsourcing this side of the business, and it’s been interesting to see how that pencils out depending on volume.
If you’re running into this on your projects, this might be worth a read: https://www.reinnovations.org/post/electrical-panel-permit-assistance-for-electricians-why-delegating-the-paperwork-helps-you-finish-m
Administrative Support for Electricians: Permits, Meter Spots, Plan Design and NEM Applications Electrical panel upgrades are routine work for electricians, but permits and utility coordination often slow projects down. This article explains how electrical panel permit assistance helps contractors save time, stay compliant, and focus on completing electrical work while administrative tasks are...
