Many people don't know, but paper straws may be just as bad for the environment as plastic. Why, you ask?
Plastic straws, and other plastic products become environmentally dangerous AFTER their use is up. They're lightweight, so they can easily blow into our water systems, which are then consumed by sealife, or wash up on our shores. They're also not accepted by curbside pick-up companies, because they end up clogging their machines, more than anything.
But, paper products, including straws, emit about four times more greenhouse gasses to produce, than their plastic counterpart. On top of that, in order for paper straws to be recycled, they have to be composted, and broken down. Since it's a food product, curbside recycling will also, not accept them.
SharkStraws are made from stainless steel, and TPE biodegradable plastic (tips). Stainless steel is 100% recyclable, and is the ultimate in reusability, longevity, and sterilization!
