Each year, thousands of firework-related injuries are reported across the United States — many involving children and injuries to the hands, face, and eyes. Even sparklers can burn at temperatures hot enough to cause severe injuries.
Please remember:
• All fireworks — including so-called “safe and sane” fireworks — are illegal in the City of Oxnard.
• Possession or use of illegal fireworks will result in:
- Fines up to $2,000
- Criminal charges
- Confiscation of fireworks
Parents may also be held responsible if their children are found in possession of illegal fireworks, and school discipline may apply for possession on or near campus.
Instead of using illegal fireworks, we encourage everyone to enjoy safe alternatives this summer:
• Attend a public fireworks show hosted by professionals
• Enjoy family celebrations with glow sticks, safe light displays, and barbecues
To report illegal fireworks activity anonymously:
📞 (805) 394-5884
📧 [email protected]
Please be prepared to give the exact address where the fireworks were ignited from.
Help us keep Oxnard safe this summer.
