‼️ Evacuation Order Lifted ‼️
Effective June 25, the evacuation order for the Cornerstone Shopping Center (12338 E. 86th St. N.) has been lifted, and businesses are authorized to reopen.
Since the evacuation order was issued on June 18, the Owasso Fire Department has worked closely with Oklahoma Natural Gas and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to monitor atmospheric conditions at the property following a methane leak from an unknown source.
A methane gas venting system has now been installed and is fully operational. Following its installation, extensive monitoring found no detectable hazardous concentrations in exterior locations, test holes, or inside any of the businesses.
Based on the successful operation of the venting system and continued monitoring results, authorities have determined that the safety hazard that prompted the evacuation no longer exists.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the business owners, employees, and the community throughout this incident. Please rally behind these valued members of our city and support them as they get back to business!
