Some highlights from our intern day trip to Misahuallí for an immersive day of learning about Kichwa culture. Joining up with two other volunteers from Beyond Travels, we all started with a lagoon boat ride to observe local wildlife in their natural habitat. Then, from discovering how cacao becomes chocolate and how ceramic dishes are handcrafted to learning how to make string from plant fibers and enjoying a traditional meal, we gained a deeper appreciation for the knowledge, traditions, and way of life that have been passed down through generations.
