UBC was proud to partner with Lotus Behavioral Health to sponsor a meaningful event bringing together professionals, providers, educators and community leaders who are passionate about supporting adolescent mental health.

As summer begins, many teens experience changes in routine, increased social pressures and reduced access to school-based supports. This collaborative discussion focused on identifying ways we can better connect with adolescents, increase access to mental health resources and strengthen the support systems available to them throughout the summer months.

In addition to sponsoring the event, we were honored to provide a therapeutic activity for attendees, offering an opportunity to experience firsthand the value of creative and experiential approaches to mental wellness. The activity served as a reminder of the importance of self-care, connection and incorporating therapeutic tools that can support both the individuals we serve and the professionals who care for them.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many dedicated professionals who share a common goal: ensuring that every adolescent has the support, resources and encouragement they need to thrive.

Together, we can continue breaking down barriers to care and creating healthier futures for the youth in our communities.

Our First Responder Liaison, Shannon, recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a ride-along with the Maitland Fire Department Station 45. πŸš’

Spending time alongside our local firefighters provided a firsthand look at the challenges, demands and critical decisions first responders face every day while serving our community. Experiences like this help us better understand the unique stressors and mental health needs of those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

At UBC, we are committed to supporting our first responders through accessible mental health resources, education and treatment services. We are grateful to the Maitland Fire Department for welcoming Shannon and allowing us to strengthen our partnership in support of those who serve.

Thank you to all first responders for your dedication, sacrifice and commitment to keeping our community safe. β€οΈπŸš‘πŸš’

Understanding Voluntary vs. Involuntary Mental Health Treatment in Florida

Many people don't realize that in Florida, you don't have to wait until a crisis becomes an emergency to seek help.

Voluntary Admission allows individuals to seek inpatient mental health treatment on their own when they recognize they are struggling and need support. By choosing treatment voluntarily, patients can begin receiving care before their symptoms worsen.

Involuntary Admission (Baker Act) may occur when a person is experiencing a mental health crisis and is believed to be a danger to themselves, a danger to others or unable to care for themselves due to their mental illness. This process allows for an evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care.

If you or a loved one are experiencing mental health challenges, seeking help early can make a significant difference. You do not have to wait until a situation reaches the level of a Baker Act.

At UBC, our team is available 24/7 to provide confidential mental health assessments and help determine the most appropriate level of care.

πŸ“ž Call us anytime or walk in for an assessment. Help is available, and recovery starts with reaching out.

We’re proud to share that University Behavioral Center has added a Narcan Dispense Box located just outside our facility for the community to access free of charge.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to harm reduction, public safety and expanding access to life-saving resources. The box provides free access to Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication that can help save lives in emergency situations.

We believe that support should be accessible when and where it’s needed most. This addition allows community members, families and individuals to obtain Narcan discreetly, quickly and at no cost.

Together, we can continue working toward a safer, more informed and more supported community.

University Behavioral Center is proud to support military members, veterans and their families by accepting TRICARE insurance coverage for behavioral health treatment.

We understand the unique challenges faced by the military community, and we are committed to making high-quality mental health care more accessible and easier to navigate.

UBC offers a full continuum of care for TRICARE beneficiaries, including:
-Inpatient psychiatric stabilization for individuals needing acute, 24/7 support
-Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for structured, intensive daytime treatment while returning home in the evenings
-Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for flexible, step-down care with continued therapeutic support

Our goal is to meet patients where they are in their recovery journey and provide the right level of care at the right time.

If you or a loved one is covered by TRICARE and seeking support, our admissions team can help verify benefits and guide next steps.
