“We’ve watched this band grow into a great songwriting outfit that moves with conviction, we’re really excited to be a part of this latest offering.” (REgeneration) ~ Robby Takac GCR Audio/Goo Goo Dolls
Through You's fourth album, REgeneration leads you to believe that Through You continue to entertain their collective muse and push the boundaries of their blend of rock. Since Through You's inception in 2005, they have released two EP's; Silhouette and Through You, as well as a live album/DVD entitled Silhouette & Since. The band describes, "The process we went through with this album (REgeneration) was unlike anything any of us had done before, and as it took shape we really felt we had something special. It was two afternoons, and we sat down in a living room, isolated the drums and amps, and then armed with headphones, guitars, and vocal chords we recorded all of our new music," said Michael Kirkland. Through You took these tracks to various studios and producers and found the connection they were looking for in Buffalo, NY at GCR Audio with Robby Takac and Justin Rose. "We were expecting them to listen to the songs, give us an idea of what they could do, and then we'd schedule the time to go up north and record a new album," Billy explains. "We didn't ever suspect that they would want to use these actual tracks." After multiple discussions and listening sessions the band decided with Robby that the live nature and raw emotion of these tracks was just too good to attempt to try and recreate and would be a waste not to use them for the album. The sound you hear on REgeneration is undoubtedly a raw and powerful representation of the band.
“With the infusion of some new sounds to an already solid ground, Through You’s latest release (Hanging on Hope) is sure to entice your ears and satisfy your musical taste buds. Rawk!!” ~ Supa Dave 101.1 WJRR
Hanging on Hope, the single from REgeneration, is a total wall of sound with soaring vocal melodies and guitar licks that'll stay ingrained in your brain for days. When asked about the apparent difference between this song and their last single, C**o, which helped land them a slot on KoRn's North American festival tour Family Values in 2007, Jeremy explains, "We have never tried to conform to one specific sound or genre; in fact we probably couldn't if we tried. We have always written in seasons and each of our albums is a direct representation of a specific time and place we were all at collectively. These songs represent a time of uncertainty and change for Through You while at the same time representing a fresh culmination of minds, an explorative time creatively which created new bonds, and a chance to do things our way." "Through You has a great history and an even better future with this new record and renewed vigor. Their musicianship, songwriting, and presence let you know immediately that they are the real deal - both on recordings and on the stage. The only thing you'll ever question is why you didn't hear of them sooner." ~ Casey Daniel Seven Mary Three/OG
“I work on a lot of music and usually never listen to it again. I was very impressed with Through You's new release REgeneration and have to say that this album will be in my personal music rotation! I love the track Comfortable as well as the rest of the album. These guys can play!” ~ Anthony Casuccio, Grammy Nominated Mastering Engineer
Through You did a soft release of REgeneration on November 22, 2011, but never distributed it. In the summer of 2012 Through You went on an unannounced hiatus. The final 4 years of Through You’s existence was met with many challenges and changes, these changes led to the creation of their final album together, but also ultimately led to their separation. After nearly 8 years Through You appeared to awaken and began dropping “hints” of a release in 2020 on their social media platforms.
