🇭🇰 Hong Kong’s First Astronaut Lai Ka-ying Heads to Space on May 24 🚀

🎙️ "Lai Ka-ying, a Hong Kong-born former police superintendent with a PhD in computer science, will fly as payload specialist aboard China’s Shenzhou-23 spacecraft. On May 24, 2026, at 11:08 PM Beijing time, she will lift off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center with crewmates Zhu Yangzhu and Zhang Zhiyuan.

The spacecraft will rendezvous and dock with the Tiangong space station, which orbits Earth at approximately 400 kilometers altitude in low Earth orbit. There, Lai will support scientific experiments and station operations. This flight marks Hong Kong’s first participation in China’s manned space program."
