Today is International Nonbinary People’s Day, first observed in 2012 after writer and activist Katje van Loon called for a day dedicated to recognizing nonbinary people. July 14 was selected because it falls midway between International Women’s Day and International Men’s Day, creating a distinct day to recognize people whose genders cannot be contained within the categories of exclusively man or woman.

Nonbinary is not one single identity or experience. It can describe people whose gender exists beyond, between, across, or outside those categories. For many, being recognized as nonbinary means having the freedom to name and define themselves, express their gender, use the pronouns that reflect who they are, and move through the world without being forced into a binary that does not fit.

Today is about visibility, but it is also about more than being seen. It is about safety, dignity, resources, leadership, and the ability of nonbinary people to live fully and shape the communities and movements they are already part of.

At Contigo Fund, we celebrate nonbinary people across Florida and remain committed to mobilizing resources toward communities building a future where every person has the power to define themselves and live freely. 💛🤍💜🖤

English: Through Contigo Fund’s Immigrant Defense cohort, we are proud to spotlight QLatinx’s CHAMOS program, a Spanish-language leadership space supporting immigrant community members through storytelling, artistic activism, power mapping, and collective action. This Pride, we are celebrating 10 years of community leadership rooted in q***r Latinx history.

Contigo means “with you.” Since emerging in the wake of Pulse, our work has been shaped by the people, movements, and leaders who taught us that community power is built through solidarity, self-determination, and care for one another.

We stand on the shoulders of q***r and trans leaders of color, including Sylvia Rivera, Lorena Borjas, Angie Xtravaganza, Hector Xtravaganza, and so many others who made space, built chosen family, organized with courage, and reminded us that our communities have always known how to fight for each other.

As the nation’s first Q***r Latinx foundation, Contigo carries that lineage forward in Central Florida by mobilizing resources, strengthening grassroots leadership, and building long-term infrastructure for q***r, trans, Latinx, immigrant, Black, Brown, rural, farmworker, and other communities of color.

This Pride, we honor our roots. We celebrate our people. And we keep building what comes next.

With you. Estamos Contigo.

This Pride, we are celebrating 10 years of community leadership and the infrastructure our communities have built together.

Contigo Fund is more than a grantmaker.

We are a connector, convener, capacity builder, rapid response partner, and movement home for grassroots organizations across Central Florida.

Our work is rooted in the belief that those closest to the challenges are closest to the solutions. That means moving resources, yes, but also strengthening relationships, sharing tools, holding space for strategy, supporting partners in moments of crisis, and building the kind of ecosystem our communities need for the long road ahead.

From capacity building to convenings, cohorts, rapid response, and movement ecosystem building, Contigo continues to move with q***r, trans, Latinx, immigrant, Black, Brown, rural, farmworker, and other communities of color.

This Pride, we celebrate the power of being more than one thing.

With you. Estamos Contigo.
