Be mindful of your portion sizes

Portion control is one of the easiest ways to sabotage your
eating. Even if you choose many of the right foods you can still
defeat the purpose of those choices by loading up on more food
than you should have.

Portion size trips a lot of people up simply because they have no
idea just how much food they should be consuming. They let their
eyes dictate how much they eat and before you know it they've
overeaten.

When starting your weight loss journey you should probably weigh
your food out so you get an accurate idea of what you should
have. This especially goes for protein for which a portion
equals the size of a fist.

If you don't want to skimp on the quantity of food simply change
up what food groups you enjoy a bigger portion of. No one ever
got overweight by eating too many vegetables.

Talk to a certified dietitian or your doctor to determine just
how much of each food group you should be consuming in order to
safely lose weight.

Find a support group that can help you through the process

Many people want to lose weight, but lack the self-discipline to
stay on track. But there is hope. You can enlist the help of a
support group to encourage you to keep going.

Don't feel alone in your weight-loss struggles because there are always plenty of others in your shoes who have already been there or are still there. The trick is to make a connection with them so that you can use their knowledge, experience and support to see you through your own issues.

Having that kind of support is crucial for success. You get to
talk to others so you don't make the same mistakes that they did and you get a new and different perspective on what you're going through.

When you begin to feel yourself getting derailed you simply
contact someone from your group to keep you motivated. Nothing is more encouraging than having a good group of friends around you who know exactly what you are going through, who can recognize when you need their intervention and who know exactly how to help you.
