Florida has now awarded more than 10,000 recruitment bonuses to law enforcement officers since launching the initiative in 2022.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the milestone as part of Florida’s broader effort to strengthen public safety and attract experienced officers from across the country.

How difficult is the Florida State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE)?

CJSTC reporting shows:

• 90% of full-time academy recruits pass on their first attempt
• 74% of EOT candidates pass on their first attempt

That means approximately 1–2 out of every 4 EOT candidates fail the exam initially.

The SOCE is based directly on Florida’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy textbooks — not agency-specific policy or field experience.
