⭐️🎨 Guess what?! I'll be at Yuri's Night Space Coast on Saturday, April 15 showing my Astronomy Art series again! The collection is growing as I've been adding pieces for the last couple of years. If you'll be going, make sure to stop by the table and say hi!

🎨Astronomy Art time....
Decided to feature my own Anubis as Sirius.
~The brightest star in the night sky
~Twice as massive as the Sun
~It is the eighth closest star to the Sun
~Known as the Dog Star

⭐️Some fun facts about the mythology and the art piece...
The star was of immense importance in ancient Egyptian times. It was worshiped and offered sacrifices with the intention that they would bring good fortune. For this reason, the image is depicted with Anubis representing the main star, Sirius A.
Also known as the heavenly wolf, which seemed appropriate for Anubis since he passed away in May 2022. Although Sirius is not located in our Solar System, it is in our Milky Way and very visible to the naked eye. For this reason, I chose to include our Solar System in the art piece. As a fun bonus, one of the planets is depicted as a tennis ball.

Original: 9x12", pen and ink, mixed media paper. 2022
