Happy Mother’s Day! One of one!!

What a team effort to push policy here in the great state of Florida!! We were able to create a resolution in the Florida State House of Representatives raising awareness for spina bifida and the positive effects folic acid can have in preventing this birth defect. We even got the first ever SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS WEEK denoted in Florida - October 18 to October 24! Saving lives in the operating room and now through policy. Huge thanks to Rep Paula Stark (pictured), our lead sponsor for this work. She is a true champion. Thanks to Alianza Center, Nemours, and my former fellowship attending Dr Hassan Akbari!!
