Your emotions are energy. You are energy and everything around you is energy. When we feel an emotion that we may not want to feel, like frustration, instead of being that emotion, we can take a look at what's behind that emotion. What is causing the frustration and what can I do to move through it? How can I see the situation that's causing this frustration from a different point of view? Once you can do that, it's easier to understand it and move through it so you aren't frustrated anymore.
What people don't realize is that we may need to do this multiple times a day with different emotions and different situations. It's not a one and done deal.
If you want to connect with yourself on a deeper level, check with your emotions.

If you act different ways around different people, take a step back and ask yourself why. Which one
creates a feeling like you can't be yourself or
you feel like you are not who you want to be when you're around them.
That is the person or situation you need to take a look at. Ask yourself
why do I act differently around them?
Where in my body do I tense up?
Where are these triggers in me coming from?
What are these emotions trying to tell me?
