The Oregon Police Division would like to alert motorists that a large number of bicyclists will be traveling on Oregon roadways during the MS Bike to the Bay event today on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The event features 35-mile, 50-mile, and 75-mile route options, with all participants traveling through The City of Oregon on their way to Maumee Bay State Park. Riders participating in the 35-mile route will return through Oregon later in the day, while cyclists on the longer routes will continue southeast beyond the city.
๐ฒ A rider rest stop will be located at Coy Elementary School on Pickle Road.
Motorists are reminded to:
โ
Be extra alert for bicyclists along the route
โ
Slow down and be patient when approaching cyclists
โ
Allow at least 3 feet of space when passing
โ
Watch carefully at intersections and when turning
โ
Share the road and help keep everyone safe
Please expect increased bicycle traffic throughout the day and plan for possible delays in areas along the event route.
Thank you for helping make this event safe and successful for all participants. Together, we can keep our roads safe for everyone.

The Oregon Police Division would like to release the following information regarding an incident that occurred at St. Charles Hospital earlier today.
The Oregon Police Division was initially dispatched to the hospital following reports of an active shooter in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers learned that a Mercy Health Police Department officer had been involved in an officer-involved shooting.
This was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. In accordance with standard protocol for officer-involved shootings occurring within the City of Oregon, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been requested to conduct the investigation. BCI maintains a specialized unit dedicated to investigating officer-involved shootings.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as appropriate.
We appreciate the publicโs patience and understanding as this investigation continues
