Due to the forecasted rainfall, sand bags will be available for low-lying areas.
Sand bags are currently available at:
-Precinct 1 County Road & Bridge Maintenance Barn located on North Hwy 87 at North Teal
-Precinct 2 11897 State Hwy 62 in Mauriceville directly across from Market Basket
-Precinct 3 County Road & Bridge Maintenance Barn located at 2502 West Round Bunch Road
-Precinct 4 County Road & Bridge Maintenance Barn located on 375 Claiborne Street
Residents are welcome to bag the sand to use to protect their home from rising water. Please bring your own shovel.

Orange County Road and Bridge is reporting that the East Roundbunch swing bridge in Precinct #3 is closed due to the weather. Officials will monitor the weather and open the bridge when it safe to do so.

Current wind chills across the area (current as of 4:30 PM)... Expect these values to keep falling over the coming hours.
We've seen many reports of freezing rain / frozen conditions across the area. PLEASE stay off the roadways if you are able to. For those who must travel, take it slow!

Due to the forecasted cold weather Orange County has partnered with Red Cross and Orange Church of God, in Orange to provide a warming station starting Monday, January 15, 2024 and Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 5 pm to 8 am at Orange Church of God Embassy of Grace, 1911 North 16th Street, Orange, Texas 77630.
A warming station is a short-term emergency shelter that operates when temperatures or a combination of precipitation and wind chill, become dangerously inclement. Their paramount purpose is the prevention of death and injury from exposure to the elements.
