Spotlight Member of the Week: Ida Joncich

This week we are proud to spotlight one of our most active and inspiring members, Ida Joncich!

Although Ida is not one of our longest-tenured members, she is definitely one of our most active. She has been attending the Opp Adult Activity Center for almost four years. Ida joined the center after the passing of her husband, Pete, of 58 years.

Ida and Pete were the definition of a devoted couple. They were together virtually 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and shared a life built on love, companionship, and family. Losing Pete left an enormous void in Ida's life. With the encouragement and help of her daughter, Lou-Gee, Ida found the Opp Adult Activity Center. She often shares that the center helped save her life during one of the most difficult times she has ever faced by providing activities, friendship, and a reason to get out and stay engaged. Today, she considers the center her second home.

If you've attended an activity at the center, chances are you've seen Ida there! She participates in just about everything we offer, with exercise and line dancing being her two favorite activities.

When she's not at the center, Ida stays busy spending time with family, caring for her new puppy, planting flowers, and working in her yard. She spent most of her adult life living in California and had a short career in data processing before deciding to leave the workforce and become the full-time boss at home.

Ida's family is one of her greatest joys. She is the proud mother of two children, grandmother to five grandchildren, great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, and even has one great-great-grandchild.

Those who know Ida admire her youthful spirit, positive attitude, and incredible energy. She is sharp, active, and always ready to participate. We can all agree that we hope to grow up to be as mentally and physically agile as Ida!

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, the courage of those who fought for our independence, and the many men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation.

We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and memorable Fourth of July filled with family, friends, laughter, and patriotic spirit. Whether you're enjoying a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or simply spending time with loved ones, we wish you a day full of joy and gratitude.
