IAFF Local 1796

Currently there are 36 IAFF Local 1796 Union members consisting of 5 Captains, 3 Lieutenants, and 28 Firefighters. On August 28, 1968, the Olean Fire Department became a member of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 1796. Their first official meeting was held on October 7, 1968. In 1969, the first labor agreement was signed with the City of Olean. The members of the department had entered the IAFF (Local 1796).
