Camp Keystone
Make us campers,
As we should be. Good sports too. For we love you Camp Keystone.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of a true Camp Keystone icon, A.J. Bassett. A.J. was Connie's twin sister, confidant and right hand through many, many summers at Keystone. They both started their Keystone careers during the summers of their tenure at FSU, where shortly after graduation Connie was told by Vicki Woodward Lewis that she was to buy the camp from her, which she did. A.J. went on to a 35 year career in the Miami school system, but returned every summer to be Connie's waterfront director. Over the decades, both at camp and Southwest Miami High School, A.J.'s positive influence on thousands of children was immeasurable. She logged more hours on the Hangout and in the swimming area than anyone else, and loved every minute of it.
She retired to her childhood home of Fort Myers Beach and spent her time there teaching and influencing many more through her involvement with the Estero Island Historic Society.
A.J. passed peacefully on April 23rd, and will be terribly missed. While a memorial service of some sort will happen, the family hasn't yet set a date or location. I'll be sure to post again when we have that information.
