Happy International Day of Women in Mathematics! May12 is a joyful opportunity for the mathematical community to celebrate women in mathematics.
'' The chosen day refers to the birth of Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, who was born on 12 May 1977 and was the first woman to win a Fields Medal.
The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming, and inclusive work environment for everybody. ''
