Yesterday, we had the opportunity to host the current Biomedical Equipment Technology cohort from MiraCosta College.

This tradition has become one of our favorite ways to celebrate and give back to the HTM community. It is such a great opportunity to connect with students who share our passion about healthcare tech and its impact in the field. Providing real-world exposure and a behind-the-scenes look into our operations is one small way we contribute to their journey.

This HTM Week, we wanted to spotlight our biomed team and show them a little love.


Today we want to introduce you to the newest addition to our biomed team, Selena Mancias.

Selena joined ZRG Medical after graduating from the MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute and began as an intern. Since then, she’s grown into a skilled biomed known for her curiosity, focus, and love of a challenge.

We asked Selena a few questions that will help you get to know her better.

How long have you been with ZRG?:
1 year and 4 months

What does your typical day at work look like?:
A typical workday for me as a biomedical equipment technician is a mix of hands-on technical work, problem-solving, reading up on manuals and some collaborating with other biomeds.

What type of education did you receive for this position? Any internship?:
MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute, interned here with ZRG.

What is your favorite part or what you like most about your job?
When I get to work on new equipment that are challenging to fix.

Do you have a favorite type of equipment to work on? If so, what is it?:
Probably Ultrasounds

Are you a part of any biomed associations? If so, how regularly do you attend meetings?:
I joined the Women in leadership Society group, I have only attended one of their meetings at the MD Expo, so far and it was outstanding.
