Rain Gutter Grow System - RGGS Version 2.0 - June 2033

Here is an update to the Version 2.0 build a little over a month later. I added another section since the original post and added all the floats and this thing has been on autopilot. The trays with the net cups have worked out great as everything is growing without an issue. I just added some bamboo trellis as the tomatoes are getting a big. All these fabric pots are 1gal, 2gal, 3gal, as I may have to move a couple of them to the garden bed. The experiment continues!!

The frame is made out of 1in x 4in x 8ft furring strips from home depot as all the boxes are made in 8ft sections and around 12 inches wide and 12 inches high. They were assembled with 18 gauge nails for quick assembly them I went back and dropped a wood screw in each section after drilling a pilot hole in each section to prevent the wood from cracking. I added bolts to the bottom of each leg which made it very easy to adjust the proper height to make it level.

Using the Fabric Pots allows the air pruning of the roots and also does not heat up in the sun like a plastic pot. The fabric pots also allows for the moisture to dry out much quicker than a plastic pot which works perfect with capillary effect of peat moss to watering the plant without making it to moist and drowning it.
