I used to struggle with reading and taking notes to understand the Bible. I just couldnāt seem to retain the information and remember certain scriptures.
I started to do some research to help me learn to better understand.
šHere are a few helpful tips for anyone out there struggling to study.
šstart with prayer and a distraction-free space
šread consistently (even short amounts)
štake notes, focus on context, and use tools like commentaries or group discussions for deeper understanding, aiming to understand God's character and apply His truths to your life.
I also compare the different versions like KJV, the NIV, the NLT and the Message. Sometimes I find I understand the NIV version better. I do recommend that one for anyone who isnt too familiar with Old English.
šPreparation & Mindset
* Pray first: Ask God for guidance and understanding before you begin.
* Find your place & time: Choose a consistent, quiet spot and time, even if it's just 10-15 minutes daily.
* Minimize distractions: Turn off notifications and set boundaries to focus on the text.
* Prepare your heart: Confess sin and seek a peaceful mindset to receive revelation.
šReading & Understanding
* Read slowly and repeatedly: Read a passage multiple times, even out loud, to let it sink in.
* Consider the context: Understand who wrote it, to whom, and why, looking at the whole book.
* Ask questions: "What does this say about God?", "What does it say about me?", "What should I do?" (The POIA method: Pray, Observe, Interpret, Apply).
* Take notes & journal: Write down insights, questions, connections, and key verses.
* Paraphrase in your own words: Rewrite difficult verses to grasp their meaning personally.
šDeepening Your Study
* Use study tools: Utilize Bible dictionaries, concordances, commentaries, or apps to research words and concepts.
* Memorize Scripture: Commit verses to memory to keep God's truth accessible.
* Study with others: Join a small group or discuss with a friend for different perspectives and accountability.
* Let Scripture interpret Scripture: Use the broader Bible to understand specific passages.
šApplication
* Focus on God's character: See His nature first, then how to be more like Him.
* Identify commands & promises: Note what to obey and what promises to claim.
* Act on it: Confess sin, repent, and seek to obey what you've learned.
I hope this will help someone š

Itās a new yearāa fresh beginning š±
Psalm 1 reminds us that blessing doesnāt come from following every voice around us, but from choosing Godās way.
When we delight in His Word and meditate on it daily, our lives become rootedāsteady, nourished, and fruitful in every season.
This year, choose where you stand, where you sit, and what shapes your mind.
Be like the tree planted by the watersāgrowing, thriving, and bearing fruit at the right time.
Hereās to walking in wisdom, staying rooted in truth, and trusting God with the outcome. āØ

When I read the Bible, something inside me slows down.
The noise in my head gets quieter, and I start paying attention in a deeper wayānot just to the words, but to what theyāre nudging me to think about in my own life.
Some passages comfort me, especially when Iām stressed or unsure, and they remind me that Iām not alone and that hope doesnāt disappear just because things are hard.
Other times, reading the Bible challenges me.
It makes me reflect on how I treat people, what kind of choices Iām making, and who I want to become.
I donāt always understand everything right away, but even that pushes me to be patient and curious.
Overall, reading the Bible leaves me feeling grounded, thoughtful, and a little more aware of purposeālike Iāve been reminded to look beyond myself and try to live with more love and integrity.

Are you sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit that if God says āGo,ā you go?
Who knows what tremendous opportunities God may have for you?
God works on both sinner and soul-winner, and when weāre sensitive to the Spirit, God gets us together.
So quiet your heart enough to hear His whisper, and brave your spirit enough to answer it.
When God says āGo,ā He has already gone before youāpreparing hearts, aligning moments, and weaving eternity into simple obedience.
Your yes may be the bridge between despair and hope, between a searching soul and saving grace.
Heaven moves when one willing heart responds.
