We have some of the deepest cultural and musical roots in the county. The Love Life Foundation has used Entertainment and Arts as a platform to elevate our talents, heal the anger of our youth and combat the violence. The Love Life Foundation was started 20 years ago by Donald Lacy, in honor of his daughter, LoEshe Lacy. LoEshe was an innocent 16 yr old victim, murdered on October 20th 1997. Shortly before her passing and losing a close friend, 17 yr old friend to gun violence, said she wanted to do a play about stopping the violence. Since the Love Life’s inception, the foundation has engaged hundred of thousands of youth and adults through radio and television shows, live theatre productions, peace rallies, and town hall meetings. LoEshe’s father, Donald Lacy and his organization have been awarded in their work on every level of government but most importantly, they are recognized and respected in the streets of Oakland. We know that no matter what you may have heard, Oakland is a place that Loves Life, negative or positive, we go hard, in fun and hustle. From every side of town there is a strong sense of pride in how we get down, we call it “Town Business”. It isn't just because we have the best weather in the country or our gorgeous views of the Bay and mountains. It’s more our Spirit of Cool, heart of activistism, and roots in the universal language of music. From the creation of desegregated blues and gospel circuits to the birth of the hyphy movement, much started here, and we pay homage to that, while creating a platform for those to come. In honor of the Love Life Foundation’s 20 year history with Oakland, we celebrate our Love of Life through our music. This is the Movement we've all been waiting for, Before now, it started in Each of our lives already. Through Artistry, Village Connections and Growth of Spirit… we are the Ones that we've been waiting for. The LoveOlution is translated in the highest frequencies. Everyone's experience validated without judgment, that's Love. Music is our testimony. We invite you to join us!
